Night Train to Surat Thani

We boarded a sleeper train in Bangkoks Hualamphong train station to go to Surat Thani at 7pm. The journey is 651km long and takes about 11 hours. The train is a great way to travel and you save money travelling at night because you don’t have to pay for a hostel or guest house to sleep.

This journey was quite comfortable but the air conditioning was very cold and it was pumping out really bad air that made us feel a bit queezy…We weren’t tired so we spent most of the night in the same bunk (located where the overhead luggage normally goes) chatting and trying to keep warm, which ment we were a bit cramped.

In the morning, when the sun came up we were treated to some beautiful views of the Thai landscape, then the coffee lady came around and that sweetened the deal even further.
